Derantay “Preecy” Stephens is the Founder and Director of Destruction Drill Team, a youth program built on mentorship, structure, and purpose. What started as a passion for music and movement turned into something much bigger over time. With more than 25 years of experience in drill teams, his journey began as a young drummer with the Omaha Marching Panthers Drill Team. Through consistency, discipline, and leadership, he worked his way into a coaching role, where he began shaping others the same way he was once guided.
In 2013, he made the decision to build something of his own. Destruction Drill Team was created with a clear mission in mind: to give young people a place where they could grow, stay focused, and be surrounded by structure instead of distractions. It was never just about performance. It was about providing an environment where youth could learn discipline, develop confidence, and understand what it means to be part of something bigger than themselves.

Since then, over 1,300 young people have come through the program. Each one stepping into a space where expectations are real, accountability matters, and growth is the goal. Through drilling, music, and movement, they are taught lessons that carry far beyond practice. Teamwork, responsibility, and self-respect become part of how they move in everyday life.
Today, the program has grown to more than 100 active members, made up of both dancers and drummers. Under Preecy's leadership, Destruction Drill Team continues to be a steady presence in the community, giving youth direction and keeping them engaged in something positive. At the end of it all, the work comes back to something simple. Watching young people find their confidence, build discipline, and genuinely enjoy the process of becoming better than they were before. That is what keeps it going.
